Nos anciens dont M. Ludwig Spitz et l’ingénieur Robert Rein ont crée, commercialisé et amélioré la TIM (Time is Money) et l’UNITAS à partir de 1907 (voir historique)
Ces machines sont bâties sur le principe de la machine de Thomas de Colmar avec des cylindres cannelés ou dents de longueurs différentes et progressives permettant d’actionner le totaliseur et d’afficher le bon chiffre.

Time is money, the proverb is well known.
Our precursor like M Ludwig Spitz and the engineer Robert Rein created, commercialized and improved the TIM (time is money) and the UNITAS starting 1907 ( see summary)
Those machines are built on the idea of the machine by Thomas de Colmar with cogs cylinders or drums with teeth of increasing length allowing it to activate the totaliser and display the right number.
L'entraîneur à cylindres cannelés, inventé par Leibniz dans les années 1670, fut sans doute le plus fécond de toute l'histoire du calcul mécanique. D'abord repris par Hahn en 1770, puis par Thomas de Colmar, on le retrouvera par la suite sur un grand nombre de machines : Burkhardt, Saxonia, Madas, Tim, Archimedes, Austria. The cogs
cylinder, also called the Leibniz wheel, in honour of his inventor, was
invented in 1670 and was probably the most promising invention of all the
history of the mechanical calculator. After first being used by Hahn in 1770,
then by Thomas de Colmar, it will later be found in a large amount of machines
such as Burkhardt, Saxonia, Madas, Tim, Archimedes, Austria. It will finish its
history at its apotheosis in the beautiful Curta by Kurt Hertzstark, produced
